The Farmers Inn is tucked away deep in the Somerset countryside at Higher West Hatch, near Taunton. Here you will find colour and comfort in equal measure. Outside, sheep in the fields, cockerels crowing, long clean views and fresh air. Inside, friendly natives, log fire, stripped wooded dining tables and a timber-framed bar, as one room rolls into another. Voted Alastair Sawday's Pub & Inn of the Year 2009.

We really missed not having a vegetable side dish in fact vegetables as whole.
In the main however we had a great time and would consider a return visit. Read less

The room was beautiful, the friendliness excelled, the ambience of the pub was amazing.
Dislikes:
The lack of breakfast menu, would have saved Natasha a lot of energy had some of the breakfast been self service and located on a unit within the breakfast room.
The evening meal had no vegetables

"Traditional Inn"
Just what you hope for when you book a traditional inn - stone walls, wood floors, log fire and warm welcome from the staff. Nice dinner menu and food was good, room very nice (and as described on their web site), bed comfortable and lashings of hot water (nothing worse than a cold shower) and an excellent breakfast. We had to leave quite early but lovley bit of the world to explore Read less

"Friendly but inattentive staff, good quality ingredients but trying too hard, abysmal breakfast"
Pleasant looking pub, nicely situated. Great local ingredients, but the chef tries too hard and tarts up the food unnecessarily. The food should be served more simple and rustic: this would match the surroundings better and allow the quality of the underlying ingredients to shine through.
We stayed in the cottage. A wonderful secluded location let down by tacky interior (rubbish furniture!) and lack of a bath. Not very cosy, even though it has the potential to be fantastic. Read less

This traditional 16th century inn has been refurbished to such a high standard that it has been awarded five stars under the national grading standards set by Visit Britain and recently won Alistair Sawday's Pub & Inn of 2009. It is also rated in the top 12 pubs in Britain by Times Online.
The Farmers Inn offers exquisite rooms, some large and some huge, with antique furniture and gleaming wooden floors – all en-suite with roll top baths. There are 5 individually designed rooms, some with sitting areas, one even with its own courtyard.
We also offer a charming 400 year old barn conversion just 1 mile away and set in glorious Somerset countryside with two ensuite double bedrooms. Included is a free pick-up and collection service to the Farmers Inn and restaurant.
The amazing views over the Somerset levels, and the breakfast are well worth waking up to. All rooms have a fast wi-fi connection. The Farmers Inn is a typical Somerset country pub – friendly and relaxed with wooden floors, a fire, leather sofas, stacks of logs and a light and airy restaurant.
All food from bar snacks to our à la carte menu is imaginatively cooked using only the best quality, locally sourced ingredients. The pub and restaurant also features an interesting wine list as well as local ales and ciders that have never travelled far.
