"Comfortable and spotlessly clean, with friendly but discreet service."
Elford house has a lovely relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and is spotlessly clean. Our room was large and airy, a perfect place to eat the continental breakfast which was discreetly delivered outside our door each morning at 8 o'clock and which we ate in our p.j.s watching the morning news on t.v. No residents lounge or breakfast room but this was no problem for us as a couple in search of a quiet short break without the kids. Just the right distance from town to walk off fish and chips. Likes:
Our room was at the top of the house at the back, so nice and quiet. Had a great view of the old Abbey and Church. It was good to have a radio in the room as well as a TV. Easy walk to town centre.
Dislikes:
Continental breakfast delivered to outside the room was pleasant enough, but serving it was not easy as we only had one very small table and nowhere to put things down.
Response from Elford House:
Please note breakfast bar now fitted so you can now have your breakfast looking towards the famous Whitby Abbey.

7 nights for the price of 6 with our compliments.
We invite you to make yourselves comfortable and at home, to relax and enjoy our warm and friendly relaxed atmosphere, which, we find, has brought guest back to Elford House time after time. What makes Elford House special is that you do not have to get up too early because your continental breakfast is delivered to you. Just relax, enjoy your stay and don't forget you are on holiday.

All rooms are elegantly furnished and come complete with an ensuite bathroom, TV, radio and tea/coffee making facilities in every room.

For the more adventurous the North Yorkshire Moors Park and railway is on our doorstep, making Elford House an excellent base to visit the many famous landmarks within North Yorkshire. Whitby is one of Britain's foremost tourist areas, and no wonder. Whatever your interests, this part of the world can probably satisfy it. Whitby itself is an old, working fishing port combined with a busy tourist centre, full of pubs, restaurants, shops and places of interest - Whitby Abbey, the romantic ruins overlooking Whitby, was the setting for a famous Bram Stoker novel.

Whitby's most famous son was Captain Cook, and one of the world's earliest documentary photographers, Frank Sutcliffe, worked in Whitby. Whitby has a beautiful sandy beach, perfect for family holidays, and as an added attraction, the harbour often hosts visiting tall ships, including the replica Endeavour and the Grand Turk. The town is on the edge of the North York Moors, and this, combined with the spectacular coastal paths, offer endless opportunities for walking and wildlife watching.

Please note that Elford House is completely non smoking. CHECK IN TIMES ARE 12 - 2PM or 6PM - 8PM.
