"Tranquil, relaxing haven from the hustle and bustle of life!"
We stayed in the garden suite and took our dog along. I wouldnt advise others to stay in it; only because we loved it so much we're afraid it may become fully booked forever! The hotel does not skimp on heating or on good food. The room was a little dusty in places, but was lovely and comfortable. The beds and duvets are so comfy, you dont want to get up and have to force yourself up for a sumptuous breakfast followed by stunning scenery in the surrounding area. Meals arent cheap but v tasty Read less

"Lovely house in a pretty location"
I visited alone and was very well looked after. Nevertheless, this is a hotel best suited to couples, especially those with pets and interested in country pursuits. It is warm and comfortable and located in the Borders within easy reach of a range of attractions. The dining area is perhaps the least cosy of the public rooms and serves a varied range of meals from the inexpensive to the relatively dear. The quality is generally good. The wine list is extensive but a little on the costly side. Read less
Likes:
The warmth and cosiness of the premises, the friendly unpretentious service and the rural location. Attitude to pets - although I no longer travel with mine, I know he'd have loved it here!
Dislikes:
Not much to dislike! Breakfast was a little disappointing - lovely juices but the "vine tomatoes" didn't materialise and the bacon was disappointing. Nice sausages, though.

The former shooting lodge for Closeburn Castle stands in over four acres of gardens and mature woodland in the heart of picturesque Dumfriesshire. Current owners Adam and Jan have created a charming country house hotel offering guests the relaxed ambience and comfort of a family home.
The bedrooms at the Trigony House Hotel are all individually styled and most enjoy garden views and look across to the Lowther Hills to the east or the Kier Hills to the west. The Garden Suite boasts its conservatory from which to admire the hotel’s stunning setting.
Well deserving of their Gold Plate and “Superb Breakfast” commendation by Hotel Review Scotland their culinary inspiration doesn’t stop there. Classic rustic Scottish and English dishes along with European peasant fare is served in the elegant, sun-bathed restaurant, overlooking the lovingly maintained gardens, or in the cosy bar beside a welcoming open fire.
Close by there is Drumlanrig Castle to visit providing an art collection, beautifully restored 17th century gardens, and a country park. A little further to the north you can explore the rolling hills of the Southern Uplands and to the south the dramatic cliff tops of the Solway Coast.
