Bar/restaurant/breakfast.
Dislikes:
That my card was charged prior to my stay. We were slightly disturbed in the morning from noise downstairs but it didn't matter as we were already up.

A warm welcome awaits at the Shaven Crown hotel - one of the ten oldest inns in the country. The inn is set in the heart of the picturesque Cotswold village of Shipton-Under-Wychwood, near Chipping Norton.

Steeped in history, the hotel is full of charm and character with log fires, real ales and delicious food. The hotel was founded in the 14th century by the monks of Bruern Abbey and later used as a royal hunting lodge by Queen Elizabeth I. Through the centuries it has maintained its charm and many original features remain, including the 14th century gateway and the double-braced roof structure of the Great Hall.

The hotel’s intimate restaurant is ideal for those wishing to dine in calm and tranquility while the courtyard provides the perfect setting for al fresco dining in the summer. Serving traditional British cuisine, only the finest quality fresh ingredients and local produce are used whenever possible. The Monk's Bar is overflowing with character (as are the locals!) and provides the perfect setting for guests and locals to enjoy real ales, fine wines and excellent food.

Perfectly located for exploring the Cotswolds, with Blenheim Palace and the historic towns of Cheltenham and Oxford nearby. Cycle friendly.
