"A wonderful place to stay"
I have stayed here a few times over the last couple of years and have always had a wonderful time. The owners are very welcoming and the rooms are each unique and extremely comfortable. There are extra touches such as Ipod docking stations in the bedrooms and this last time I stayed I was shown the DVD library to be able to watch while staying.
The location is beautiful, overlooking the bay, with great views from the bedroom windows.
Free WiFi access is great. Breakfasts are fantastic. Read less

Everything. Examples include a great comfortable bed with super smooth cotton sheets and sumptuous pillows, the biggest antique wash hand basin ever, wonderful natural seaweed based shampoos etc.
Dislikes:
That it was only 1 night. (Sadly I had to be working somewhere else the next day)

Very tranquil and private location overlooking the bay.
The breakfasts were first class and a real gourmet taste of the best of Northern Ireland cuisine.

Chris and Jenny Mullen would like to welcome you to Cairn Bay Lodge, a guesthouse for the discerning traveler set in extensive gardens with panoramic views of Ballyholme Bay and Ballymacormick Point
Built in 1914 for Belfast City Councellor William Tyrell, The Cairn is a detached seaside villa with classic oak panelling, Dutch fireplaces and wonderful stained glass. His son Air Vice Marshall Sir William Tyrell was surgeon to the Queen Mother and the present day Queen. So proud of the fact that his son held such an illustrious position William Senior had balconies built at both the front and rear of the house in anticipation of a Royal Visit. Sadly much to his appointment this never materialised.
Now it is home to Chris and Jenny Mullen, and daughter Poppy, and guests from all over the world. Good hospitality and relaxation are on offer.
Jenny is a trained Beauty Therapist with a salon on the premises and and Chris is in charge of the kitchen with breakfast being his speciality. Help yourself to County Armagh apple juice, seasonal fruits, home-made soda bread, wheaten bread and yoghurt, followed by one of the daily specials such as Baked Irish Goat's Cheese, local oak smoked salmon omelette or Traditional Ulster Grill.

We strive to recycle wherever possible and use local suppliers for all our produce.
