"Lovely hotel"
I stayed at the hotel with my 10 year old daughter and her friend. The room was lovely and clean. The food was nice, with very large portions for dinner, and the staff were generally very friendly. The only problem I had was when the children went down for a drink before lunch on Sunday and asked if the bar was open. The lady working there was very rude to the children, who are very polite, and told them to "go away"! Apart from that, it was a nice hotel. Read less

1 member of staff being rude
Response from Abbeyfield Hotel:
The member of staff in question was our cleaner who does not have very good English, she was concerned about the children slipping on wet floors as the bar was not open at that time, she is a very ploite person but may not have come across too well.

"One of the worst hotels in the world - ever!!!"
From the off hand greeting, to the find it yourself guidance to our room, to the holes in the wall and door, to the 30 year old manky carpet, to the hardly working hot/cold shower, to the hand me down tatty, smelly furniture, to the old duvet cover this hotel was like a joke 7t's theme hotel!
Having asked for a quiet room we were given one cloest of all to the train line, literally 10 paces away, we were right over the kitchen with smells & shouted obsenities till 10pm,the 12" telly didn't work Read less

Response from Abbeyfield Hotel:
Seems very strange as all our furniture was upgraded last year, our kitchen closes at 9 p.m. so no idea where obsenities came from, not from staff who aren't there ! Televisions are checked on a regular basis and if problem is reported it is dealt with immedeately. I am afraid the hotel is close to a train line, so yes, so are the rooms.
