Accommodation at Willow Cottage Bed and Breakfast is in a beautiful guest house which has a peaceful setting in the Calstock Conservation Area, within the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The B & B is close to the village centre where all the amenities (including Calstock Village Hall, the local shop and Post Office, an art gallery, natural therapy centre and pub/restaurant) are just a three minute level walk along the lane. Cotehele House, the hidden gem of the National Trust, is just a 40 minute walk downstream or a boat will take you there in the season when the tide is high. A taxi can be arranged for evening functions at Cotehele. Morwellham Quay, nearby, is the local centre for the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site.
Willow Cottage Bed and Breakfast is an ideal stopping point for walkers and cyclists, via the Tamar Valley Discovery Trail. It is a 10 minute walk from Calstock railway station which is on the Plymouth to Gunnislake branch line. There is ample private parking for your car at Willow Cottage.
A BT wireless internet connection is available for your laptop or, leaving work behind, you can relax and enjoy the view of the Calstock Viaduct from the garden pergola.
The rooms are spacious and all are ensuite or with a private bathroom. The B & B is very clean and comfortable and is run in an informal manner. Guests may use the garden and their room at any time of the day whilst checked in.
The market town of Tavistock is 7 miles away, with its award winning delicatessen and cheese shop and its lively market hall. The whole of Dartmoor National Park is close by.
Plymouth is accessible by rail on the Tamar Valley branch line (30 minutes) or by car via the Tamar Bridge (40 minutes). The ferry terminal for Roscoff or Santander is situated to the west side of Plymouth.
The South Cornwall coast can be reached by car in 45 minutes and the North Cornwall coast is just over an hour away.
Environmental Statement
We try to be as environmentally friendly as we can be. The B & B has loft insulation, a new, efficient, condensing boiler which powers the central heating and the oil is stored in a double skinned tank to avoid possible pollution in a sensitive location. Mains water is metered. We recycle bottles, plastic, paper and card and compost all uncooked waste food products. We use environmentally friendly washing liquid and fabric softener. The toilets drain to a septic tank and so we use environmentally friendly cleaners there too. A new range of shampoos and shower gels which are made in the Tamar Valley and are eco-friendly have been introduced. Food is bought from local suppliers as much as possible to reduce food miles and petrol usage. We encourage guests to travel here by train and to walk in the beautiful Tamar Valley rather than drive their cars.
