Over all we had a very pleasant stay. If anything it would have been nice to have our last nights meal in the hotel but appreciate that there was a big function to be catered for

Dating back to the early 1800’s, references of the hotel can be found as early as 1804 when the landlord of the Beaufort Inn, as it was previously named, would hold the key to the gate of the Abbey and augment his income by admitting visitors and conducting tours.
The area originally occupied by the Abbey was much larger than it is today. The precinct wall followed the lane that runs along the back of The Abbey Hotel and its remnants can still be seen to this day.
In order to cater for the growing tourism trade within Tintern and the Wye-Valley as a whole, the hotel has been vigorously upgraded throughout History with keys dates including initial extensions dating back to 1910. Along with these very upgrades the name has also been subject to change and has evolved from The Beaufort Inn, The Beaufort Inn Hotel, The Beaufort Hotel and most recently the Abbey Hotel.
Striving for a coveted AA Rosette, the Restaurant here at the Abbey Hotel offers an exquisitely wide range of locally sourced dishes combining the finest ingredients and flavours that Seasonal British cooking has to offer.
Sourcing the finest produce that the Wye Valley and surrounding areas have to offer, Our head chef utilises the abundance of natural ingredients available to create menus for the most discerning of palettes.
Offering a less formal and relaxed atmosphere the Abbey Bar serves a sumptuous range of traditional home cooked dishes with a regular offering of incomparably fresh specials, all cooked to order.
