"Friendy welcome and fantastic service."
We stayed for 1 night as we had a booking at a local restaurant. We hadn't specified our arrival time, but we were greeted in the bar by Rob & then by Christine, who showed us to our lovely room.
Christine had already warned us, by email, that Network Rail were due to carry out overnight drainage work on the night of our stay & gave us the option to cancel. The main railway line is adjacent to the pub &, being a light sleeper, the noise did keep me awake, though my partner slept through it! Read less

The room was a lovely size, bright & clean. Rob & Christine were so friendly & welcoming & even put up with us watching the Rugby World Cup final, whilst we had breakfast (which was lovely!).
Dislikes:
I can't find anything negative to say about The Sportman's Arms and would definitely stay here again.
Response from Sportsmans Arms:
Thanks Alli - glad you both enjoyed yourselves! Hopefully see you both again - Christine & Rob

We really enjoyed our 2 nights at the Sportmans Arms. The accommodation was cheaper than much larger chain hotels in the area and to be quite honest we were pleasantly surprised by the high standard that Rob and Christine strive to provide their customers. The breakfast was first class and the service superb. Moreover, the staff took the time to actively make you feel welcome and as if they already knew you. We would highly recommmend it for both short and long stays. Overall, a brilliant place. Read less

The owners were flexible, helpful and made us feel welcome. The room was clean and tidy and finshed to a very high standard. You can tell easily that money has been spent to make this hotel what it is
Dislikes:
No, everything was just perfect.
Response from Sportsmans Arms:
Hi Hannah & Tom - thanx very much for your review! You were a pleasure to have with us - I still haven't found your scarf though!!

The Sportsmans Arms is a traditional style inn offering all ensuite accommodation. We have listened to our customers and so in these price-conscious times rooms are charged on a "room-only" basis, with the option of a light breakfast (juice, cereals, toast & marmalades, tea/coffee) for £3, or full English breakfast for just £5. Our location is a key feature, being only 300yds off the A38 which makes it a perfect base for exploring Cornwall.

On arrival, guests are given a front-door key so that they may come and go as they wish. For visitors without a car, Menheniot's train station with a limited service is almost opposite and the bus stop is at the end of the road on the A38. We don't offer an evening meal service - Cornwall has such a variety of dining options, with many of the best fish restaurants in the region only 5 miles away in Looe, and there is an excellent English/Italian restaurant at the end of the road.

All five of our comfortable rooms are ensuite with courtesy tea & coffee trays and a flat-screen wall-mounted TV, with built-in Freeview and DVD player. Sky Sports is available in the bar which is open 4.00pm to 11.00pm Monday to Thursday, and from noon to 11.30pm Friday to Sunday. Internet access is free and available in the bar - most guests are able to access it in their room also.

We like to think we offer a good service at a sensible price - have a read through our reviews (and our responses to them!)

Location: Looe - 6 miles
Eden Project - 30 minutes drive
Plymouth - around half an hour to the centre
Land's End is "do-able" as a day-trip

And for all the thrill-seeking junkies, Adrenalin Quarry (zipwire, giant swing, coasteering) is right opposite.
