Built in the 17th century The rifle Volunteer was originally built to accommodate a Mine Captain and his family during the hey day of the mining industry in the area. It now forms the focal point as the local village pub for the village of St Annes. With a great reputation for its food and hospitality it is a excellent location for expolring all the many visitor attractions in the area.
Come and stay at this quiet retreat in the village of Latchley by the river Tamar, 10 minutes walk away. Tavistock 6 miles. Lots of nearby attractions and walking. Dartmoor is famous for its granite Tors. Virtually jump from Tor to Tor taking an interactive view of the scenery around many of the famous Dartmoor Tors. Dartmoor offers more to see and do than could be included in the average holiday to devon or Dartmoor itself. From great attractions for children through to museums and the natural attractions that Dartmoor has to offer such as disused quarries and Railways.
A visit to Dartmoor would not be complete without some local shopping. From market towns to farm shops step inside Dartmoor shops before your visit. The area around St Anns Chapel boasts some truly unspoilt landscapes, quiet river walks and delightful
villages. The Rifle Volunteer is an ideal centre for exploring the area with Dartmoor National Park just over the border
in Devon and Bodmin Moor to the west in Cornwall. The sandy beaches and magnificent coastline of South Devon
and South East Cornwall are all within a 20 mile radius.
