The Countryman's Inn

The Countryman’s Inn is a traditional inn in the village of Hunton,Lower Wensleydale, North Yorkshire.Situated midway between Bedale, "The Gateway to the Dales,"& Leyburn ,close to the A1 to allow easy access to the North Yorks Moors, Herriott Country, York, Newcastle, Harrogate and Leeds. Ideally located for Catterick Garrison, Richmond & only 5 miles from the historic racehorse training centre of Middleham.Stable visits and transport to the training gallops can be arranged.

Offering a warm welcome and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere The Countryman's is an ideal base, with good beer and good food, you can relax in the bar with its beamed ceilings and seasonal log fire. Approved by Cask Marque in 2011, we serve 5 cask-conditioned local ales. If you have "customer feedback" why not share it with the head brewer of one of our "legendary" local breweries, You can find him at the bar every evening!

The comfortable accommodation comprises of 4 en-suite rooms, all redecorated in 2010/11, all with flat screen freeview TV's with DVD player.Free biscuits, tea/coffee facilities & free Wi-Fi access. A comfortable & relaxing base from which to enjoy this unique area and its many attractions.

There are many local attractions sporting, cultural, historical or rural, to appeal to all tastes, within easy travelling distance. Walking,fishing, horse riding or shooting, the stunning countryside of Wensleydale has something to offer everyone. If horse racing is your main interest there are 9 local racecourses within easy traveling distance as wwell as the training centre of Middleham.

Our restaurant, again recognised in 2013 with the AA Dinners Award is open Wednesday to Sunday evenings & Friday to Sunday for lunch .It has a deserved reputation for its wide choice of freshly prepared dishes using local produce & offering good value a la carte, Vegetarian, Children's & "Pub Classic" dishes.We are open 17.30 to 21.30. Sunday lunch is served from Midday to 4.00pm
