An overnight stay for business purposes. The room accommodation and price were deciding factors as an welcome alternative to business hotel facilities. We received detailed information on the accommodation prior to arrival but a request about the availability of breakfast prior to 7:30 was not returned. On arrival we were informed that breakfast was not available before 8:15 although the facility to make toast was provided. Read less

The character of the room and general accommodation is charming and it is easy to see why other guests left comments on it being a perfect venue for spa retreats and for sole occupancy gatherings.
Dislikes:
It is clearly excellent accommodation for leisure activities although it does not provide the flexibility required for business travel.

Business or leisure we always aim to meet the needs of our guests, I have thoroughly checked all my communication and the booking confirmation and no request was received for an early breakfast. It could have been arranged but by the time they arrived it was a little too late to change staff schedules. We get alot of excellent reveiws from business travellers who find the high standard and home from home feel of the place and our flexibility a great change from the chain hotels.

The room was cold - too cold to have a shower that evening or even the next morning.

Sometimes you just to have to keep smiling! This couple got a really good rate and then said they would not arrive until midnight. Despite having had a very nasty fall recently and very shaken and tired I stayed up to show them in. They apologised for being late but I explained it was fine because I had got my accounts finished. The heating had gone off I explained asked if the room was still warm enough and they said it was, lesson learned I should have put it back on anyway just in case.

All our rooms are hand painted in different themes meaning all our accommodation is totally unique. You don't need to catch a plane to travel, stay at The Barn House and by just climbing the stairs you'll find yourself in either India, France, Scotland or Africa by choosing one of our four unique themed rooms - The Raj Experience, Chambre de Provence, Scottish Highlands or Out of Africa. A farmhouse kitchen, lots of old beams and real fires complete the feel of this lovingly restored barn. There is a lovely lounge area to relax in and on Tuesday to Saturday you can enjoy homemade cake and excellent organic coffee in our cafe.
The Pigeon Loft guest house was, as the name suggests an old pigeon loft, and the main feature of the dining/meeting area is infact the original pigeon holes. Not the usual beginning for unique 5 star accommodation. Just like The Barn House, this building has been sympathetically and lovingly converted with reclaimed materials that give it an old yet modern feel. The veluxes and floor to ceiling windows and doors in every room give The Pigeon Loft a light and airy feel and offers the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful gardens, patio, water feature and amazing outdoor lighting. The interior design is much more contemporary and creates a relaxed and stylish environment.
The beauty of the building is one thing but the beauty of this accommodation is another, not only does it have the three unique themed rooms The Eagle’s Nest, Songbirds and Water’s Edge, it also has its own uniquely styled lounge and kitchen so again creating the home from home experience.
The experience at The Barn House does not just include the accommodation we have loads more to offer here, including The Garden Retreat therape and beauty room, conferences, meetings, private diningcelebrations and, weddings, and lots of specially designed weeekend breaks.
