It was a last minute booking and we got the a room with a forrest view ,but we still had a lovely view of Loch Ness from the side window. Wine and roses were in the room as requested. The room was very clean but the cracked toilet and a broken tile in the bathroom let it down. I had to set up the t.v. myself and the signal quality was very poor but they hope to have digital installed soon. The bed was nice but very squeaky. Read less

The staff were very friendly, the views were magnificent and the peace and quiet was great.
Dislikes:
The food was a bit of a let down but the meals were cheap so I think you get what you pay for. Breakfast was poor you were offered a wide choice but 1 slice of bacon is no use to most men.

It had been a particularly snowy fortnight before we arrived so the roads were barely passable from Fort Augustus to Foyers. We were tired when we arrived but soon forgot all about our journey when we saw the breath taking scenery! The views over Loch Ness were outstanding and the snow just added to our magical stay. We stayed two nights and spent all day walking around the area in the snow. The staff were friendly and accomodating. Read less

The scenery was just beautiful and the food was excellent!! Delicious and beautifully presented.
Dislikes:
The snowy weather meant that we were restricted to walking in search of somewhere to have lunch. Unfortunately there was nowhere to have lunch in the area as each Hotel was closing for the Winter.

Difficulty travelling about because of weather. Most cars could not ascend the drive to the hotel because of snow and steepness.

Welcome to Craigdarroch House Hotel, you will be immediately struck by the special ambience:- old fashioned wood panelling, high cornice ceilings and period furnishings. The rooms are luxurious and comforting, with most overlooking the loch and some having four poster beds. Back downstairs, relax in the cosy lounge bar and sample some of the 130 varieties of malt whisky on offer. Or maybe ettle in the deep cushioned sofas of the drawing room in front of a roaring log fire, decorated in soft colours with extensive wood panelling, giving an ideal atmosphere in which to unwind with an after dinner drink. Unquestionably the finest views of Loch Ness from any property around the loch can be seen from the windows.The conservatory is a lovely spot to sit and relax with a book in the summer months and spy on the local wildlife in the surrounding woodland. There are red squirrels, deer, pheasants and on occasion you might spot the hotel's own resident Harris' hawks! The surrounding area is full of natural beauty, with fascinating walks along the loch and through the forests at Foyers, Dores, Inverfarigaig and Fort Augustus. Some of the world's best boating, fishing and shooting are found nearby, as well as a huge range of scenic, top quality golf courses. There is also biking, horse riding, canoeing and kayaking, plenty of castles and battlefields for an historic day out or the chance to nose the fine whiskies of the Highlands' distilleries.
