The position and facilities off the A303 was an ideal stay over and would have no hesitation in recommending to friends.Excellent dinner and breakfast.
Dislikes:
Could have done with a sitting room for guests staying longer than a night.

The hotel is very conveniently located, quiet, and good value, and the landlord was very friendly. The breakfast was also very good.
Dislikes:
The fittings were a bit tired. My shower head sprayed everywhere, other than on me, there was no towel rail, and the net curtain was torn. But I gather the owners are new, so may be about to fix these

Food was really nice. Nice clean sheets and towels..Liked it was really nice and quiet, considering it is above a pub, as I have a young child...
Dislikes:
Needed modern TV's in the room.

Recently The George has been awarded the award of Pub/Restaurant of the year 2009 by a group of regional newspapers. The George Inn has 6 en-suite letting rooms all offering comfortable accommodation and is conveniently located just off the A303 for easy access to such local attractions as Longleat Safari Park and Stourhead House and Gardens.

Mere is well situated in Wiltshire,. it lies at the extreme southwestern tip of Salisbury Plain close to the borders of Somerset and Dorset.

The Main Bar is spacious and features a large real log fire for those cold winter nights. Adjoining the Main Bar is one of our Dining areas perfect for sampling one of our delicious meals from our extensive menus. There is also a seperate restaurant for families, which is also suitable for small private functions.

Children are welcome and food is served daily from 12 noon - 2pm and in the evening from 6.00pm - 9.00pm

For the summer months, there is an outside seating area for enjoying those lovely summer days and warm evenings where you can relax and soak up village life in Mere whilst enjoying a few drinks or a meal.
