"Friendly and helpful but a few glitches"
If we had reviewed the Invicta after our 1st (friday) night we would have given top marks for everything related to customer service. Staff were friendly and very helpful; the evening meal was good. But on Saturday a large wedding took most of the staff attention. The Bar was taken over by wedding guests leaving us feeling like gatecrashers, the service at the Sat evening meal was slow, the food quality was poor and music in the restaurant drowned by disco drumming from downstairs. Likes:
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff on our arrival, the location halfway between Plymouth Hoe and City Centre
Dislikes:
Our room, though small, was clean and well equipped but after a while climbing 58 stairs up on the top floor with no lift became very wearing. Two nights was enough.
Response from Invicta Hotel:
Dissapointed to hear that your second night was not as good as your first, our function room is totally self contained and below reception but on this occasion the party had an evening do aswell as daytime so the guests were asked to wait in the upstairs bar for 1 hour only whilst the DJ set up, im sorry if this meant service was compromised during this time. All functions finish at midnight without fail. top floor rooms are reduced and our food is of the highest standard normally so i apologise
