Very pleasant, used Pugmill as a rest area for sightseeing in the Northumberland area. Had to leave early due to death of father while on trip.

Description

Visit Britain 5 Stars Self Catering

Harehope Farm and surrounding country estate are within one of the most beautiful yet little known areas in Northumberland. The access land is well served with footpaths, bridleways and quiet lanes so walks can begin from the doorstep - the best views of the Cheviot Hills can be seen from here. The Northumberland National Park and the Heritage Coast are within easy reach on quiet country roads. Eglingham village, with its 14th century church, is one of Northumberland's most picturesque and the village pub, The Tankerville Arms, is popular with both locals and visitors serving good locally sourced food. A short distance away is Chillingham Castle, reputed to be England's most haunted, and Chillingham Wild Cattle, thought to be the only pure wild breed in the British Isles.

Pugmill is one of a group of five individually owned properties converted from the existing 19th century farm buildings and accessed by a private road from the farm. Careful attention is paid to every detail throughout. Central heating is controllable, with a carbon neutral logburner for cosy evenings. There are views from the rooms, with the main sitting room on the first floor to take best advantage. The reclaimed spiral staircase is an interesting feature, there are traditional stairs as well. The timber beamed farmhouse kitchen is exceptionally spacious and has energy efficient Neff appliances. There is even a TV area, so you can catch up whilst preparing the dinner! Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one on each floor, can comfortably accommodate four adults and children are welcome at any age. A private garden is to the front, planted recently with native trees and shrubs for wildlife with a small plot for vegetables and herbs when in season. Information is provided on the local area, places to visit, events, local transport and where to source and eat local food. We will even deliver some locally sourced, fairtrade and organic essentials to start your holiday.
