What a fantastic place. The rooms are very nice and of a higher than expected standard, the staff are delightful and the food is awesome. What more can I say other than if you stay in summer you can also watch the local cricket team playing. All very a quintessential. Read less

Likes:
Good food, sevice and quiet atmosphere
Dislikes:
I like a cooked breakfast when I am away, due to the fact that we don't get away that often but on the flip side we didn't have to check out until 11 due to the continenatl style, win some, lose some.

The Red Lion in Buckland, Betchworth is a well established family run traditional English Country Pub & Restaurant with Accommodation set in a beautiful rural location yet centrally placed for access to London and the South East.

The pub dates back to the early 18th century with parts of the main building being built around 1730. The Wisteria plant at the back of the main building is said to be 230 years old which would make it the oldest Wisteria plant in the country.

Our restaurant enjoys a good reputation for tasty, freshly prepared food which is available from 12.00 to 14.30 and 18.30 to 21.30 during weekdays and is open longer at the weekend, particularly during the day. Our menu is a mix of traditional English classics like Pie of the Week & Fish Pie together with a wide variety of specials.
Our bar stocks a number of well conditioned real ales, lagers, ciders, & Guinness, all on draft and complemented by a range of bottled beers and of soft drinks. We also have a wide range of spirits and a carefully selected range of wines which are sold by the bottle or glass.

The accommodation, which is in a separate building to the pub & restaurant, consists of six large en suite rooms on two floors. All rooms have tea & coffee making facilities and flat screen televisions with built in Freeview. The whole interior was re carpeted and redecorated in 2009.

The property is set in a large plot which includes a cricket pitch which is home to the Reigate Pilgrims Cricket Club.

The location of the property is very central with motorways, railways and airports within easy reach. J8 and J9 of the M25 are 15 minutes away, Railway stations in Dorking & Reigate are 15 minutes away and Central London from there is 45 to 55 minutes by train. Gatwick Airport is 25 minutes away and Heathrow takes 50 minutes. Brighton and the South coast are less than an hour’s drive from the Inn.
