Description
The Cross at Kingussie is a family run five star rated restaurant with rooms located in the lovely Highland village of Kingussie within the stunning Cairngorm National Park, surrounded by mountains, rivers and lochs. Situated in four acres of riverside grounds - with an abundance of native trees, flowers and wildlife – The Cross combines quality with simplicity and good food with a warm welcome. Built as a water powered tweed mill in the late 1800s, The Cross maintains the character and some of the original features of the mill.
The Good Food Guide has rated The Cross as one of the six best places to eat in the Scottish Highlands and Trip Advisor ranks The Cross as #1 in the area. Recommended in all other independent guidebooks, including Michelin, The Good Hotel Guide, Scotland the Best, Rough Guide, Lonely Planet, and Fromers.
Champagne is served on the terrace in the summer – and drams in a cosy lounge in winter. Dinners are served by an open fire in the stone walled and wood beamed restaurant. Menus feature carefully prepared fresh, local and seasonal produce and the wine list is one of the best in the UK.
There are two comfortable lounges in which to relax and unwind – with games and books aplenty – and a plethora of local information and suggestions for walks and excursions. There are eight comfortable bedrooms, all with large beds and well equipped en-suite bathrooms including some with separate showers.

Environmental Statement
As a family-run restaurant with rooms in a fantastic natural environment, we care about the world we will pass on to our children. We reuse and recycle a wide variety of items including paper, corks, card, plastics, printer cartridges, and even bread (for local ducks!). We use as many recycled materials as we can.We are working hard to cut down energy and water usage. Low energy lighting is being installed in as many fittings as possible and bedroom televisions are switched off when rooms are serviced. Guests are encouraged to take unfinished toiletries away with them.In the restaurant we make full use of local seasonal produce and where we can we buy produce that has been grown or reared by organic methods. Many wines on our list are organic or bio-dynamic.Much of the grounds at The Cross have been left to grow into wild areas to encourage local wildlife such as roe deer, squirrels, hedgehogs, frogs, butterflies, and a large range of bird species.
