"A very welcome and needed break."
The hotel is absolutely faultless, the owners and staff are second to none and the accomodation and food is just what the doctor ordered.A short walk from the town and beach with pubs and restaurants a-plenty all only ten minutes away or eat at the hotel its brilliant. We went without the car and caught the bus everywhere, they`re cheap and regular, a great way to get about and see the island and there`s lots to see.It was our first stay on the I.O.W. and we can`t wait to back get to the Belmont. An imposing former gentleman's residence, "The Belmont" is well known for our warm welcome, friendly efficient service and the relaxing atmosphere.
Combining Victorian elegance and modern comforts, we offer superior bed and breakfast accommodation in an excellent location close to Shanklin Old Village and the beach.
There are thirteen well-appointed en-suite rooms including sea-facing rooms, premier and superior rooms.
We have a secluded suntrap garden, outdoor pool and a bar.
Within its 23 by 13 mile span, the Isle of Wight boasts a great variety of activities for all ages including historic buildings such as Queen Victoria's country residence of Osborne House, manor houses with vineyards, zoos and theme parks. England's diamond-shaped 'Garden Isle' is one of the sunniest parts of the country and and over half the Island is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the perfect antidote to city stresses without the hassle of air travel.
Shanklin itself comprises the Old Village - famous for the picturesque thatch-roofed inns, tea rooms, bars and restaurants - and the modern amenities of the rest of the town. Local attractions include two theatres and scenic walks over the Downs and along the cliff path. The wooded Chine leads down to the sea where the Island's longest bay has a safe sandy Blue Flag beach, ideal for sunbathing, swimming, canoeing and windsurfing.
