Friendliness of the staff and the lovely big bed in our room - very important for me as I am 8 months pregnant.
Dislikes:
The shower in our room could have done with a bit more power.

The Inn offers you informal dining in a modern rural environment; this is provided by wooden floorboards, wooden tables & chairs and brightly coloured and contemporary soft furnishings, artwork, subtle lighting and a open log fire. There is an enclosed private beer garden with open views over the Borders' countryside. The six bedrooms provide comfort and relaxation with modern facilities.
The Allanton Inn is a perfect retreat and provides an excellent base for exploring the many fascinating places of interest throughout the Scottish Borders and Northumberland and to induldge in the wealth of outdoor activities that the area has to offer. Truly an all year round destination!
Allanton is located tem miles inland from Berwick-upon-Tweed, ten miles from Coldstream and six miles from Duns. The English order is just five miles away.
Allanton village itself has a childrens play park and enjoyable walks to the river and in the sourounding countryside. The village of Chirnside is one mile away with local amenities such as bank, post office, chemist, doctors and shops.
There are several well established walking routes in the area; these include, the Southern Upland Way, St Cuthbert's Way, St Abb's Head, the Northumbrian and Berwickshire Costal Paths and walking in the Cheviot and Lammermuir Hills. The Allanton Inn is in a central position in the Borders which boasts a large number of golf courses. The parkland courses at Coldstream, the Hirsel and at Duns are a short drive away. Goswick south of Berwick is a magnificent links course use as a qualifying course for the British Open.
There are numerous stables in the locality offering good facilities for riders of all standards. Other local activities include diving which can be arranged at St Abb's and surfing which is available at Coldingham.
