Likes:
Peace and quiet and the views/facilities
Dislikes:
Lack of decent restaurants open in the evening in the local area. I'm not sure if this was just a product of the time of year we stayed.

Low Cornriggs is a traditional hill farm parts of which date back over 200 years. It is registered with English Nature as a site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its rare fauna and flora. Located in the heart of Weardale, with spectacular views over the High Pennines. Good walking on old green roads last used by the pack-horse ponies as they carried lead from dale to dale, it is an excellent area for cycling, and near to the C to C and many other cycling routes. For the motorist, leisurely, quiet roads verged by beautiful flora and fauna lead to traditional stone-clad rural villages.

Nearer to home, our own Japanese garden provides a welcome place to relax during your holiday. Quality accommodation in our warm and comfortable large bedrooms with en-suit bath or shower rooms, tea trays, with wonder full views, all of which have their own character and are well equipped. We serve an excellent home cooked breakfast using home made bread and jams and local and organic food when ever possible.

Low Cornriggs Farm has won two Green Tourism Awards from the North Pennines Tourism Partnership, which are awarded to an enterprise which makes a "positive contribution to tourism and the environment in the North Pennines". We are part of the Green Business Scheme 2006 we are trying to do our bit to help with the environment. Open all year and we offer safe parking for our guests!

We also offer self-catered accommodation. Our cottages are situated in a quiet location where you wake up to hear the birds singing in the heart of Weardale with panoramic views over the dale. The cottages are warm and cosy with all the 20th Century comforts of modern day living. Large fully fitted kitchen with all modern appliances. Large open plan lounge with two comfy sofas and log effect fire. The large double bedroom has an en suite bathroom and toilet. Large twin bedroom with en suite disabled shower and toilet. Additional twin bedroom. Full central heating. Lots of hot water .
Environmental Statement
We are environmentally friendly. We have won two awards and our farm is a SSSI.We try to recycle as much as possible .Our water for the farm is run from a spring saving water meter charges , the cattle are fed with hay from our wild flower meadows. We use all the manure our cattle produce by the cattle and put it back onto the farm land . Our Holiday Cottages have a very low carbon foot print.with all low energy lights. 14" lagging in the roofs . Timber framed. to save heat loss. And we ask our guests to help recycle . compost bins for vegetable waste. water barrels to use rain water for the garden .We take all plastic , paper, cans and bottles to the recycle centre. We use both produce direct from our farm as well as locally sourced as much as possible.
