"Very friendly service"
We were made to feel very welcome. There is a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere to the place, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants the same, rather than stiff protocol. You could probaby find other hotels that would be well modernised & with more luxuries, and this one is more basic old fashioned Inn accommodation, but we liked the relaxed welcoming attitude at this one which may be lacking in others. No plastic "have-a-nice-day" here, - it's genuine goodwill. Read less
Likes:
Very comfortable atmosphere due to friendly & relaxed staff, welcoming. Very accommodating to our particular needs & requests. Also totally willing for us to have our little dog there!
Dislikes:
It's on the main street so has no carpark. Used the public one at the rear, but got a parking fine on Monday morning! Good location, but be warned to renew ticket first thing in morning on a weekday

Our rooms were absolutely enormous, especially the bathroom. The decor was simple and in keeping with the period of the building. The furniture was an eclectic mix of antique/junk shop finds which I loved(let's face it, anyone wanting to stay somewhere that looked like a Novotel probably wouldn't be in Lewes in the first place!) The room was cold on arrival but the barman who checked us in put the heaters on and by the time we came back from an evening out it was warm as toast.

The bed, it *was* a little squeaky but it was the most conmfortable bed I've ever slept in and the bed linen was crisp and clean.
Dislikes:
Like most places in Lewes The Crown has no parking so we spent a good 20 minutes trying to find the closest long term car park, will go by train next time!
