The accommodation was quaintly charming and none of us had any complaints. The breakfast and evening meals were all hot, tasty an with a good choice of vegetables. The plates were always hot! I liked the feeling of stepping back a couple of decades. Ok the decor is a bit dated but that adds to the charm. Everything was spotlessly clean with piping hot water available at all times.
Dislikes:
I enjoyed my stay and the only small thing I would have liked was a shoe cleaning kit in my room but I'm sure if I had asked it would have been available.

Dislikes:
I felt that the bed linen could be up-dated and the bedroom carpets were looking a bit tired.

Very many thanks for your kind comments. The pool surround is wooden decking that does tend to vary in colour. - I can assure you that it is scrubbed with disinfectant every day. The metal steps are an integral part of the pool construction with the filtration system working through them so unfortunately nothing we can do - but they are entirely secured. The level of service and the food.
Dislikes:
A minor gripe is that the room had a small television mounted high on the wall. Also the room (16) didn't need a large table but could use a sofa and small table.

The Dragon Hotel is a 17th century family run, former Coaching Inn with 20 ensuite bedrooms.
Set in the quiet village-sized town of Montgomery, on the Old Market Square, beneath the old ruined castle, surrounded by the stunning countryside of the historic Welsh Marches. Near to Powis Castle and only 25 minutes from Shrewsbury.
Facilities at the Dragon Hotel include an indoor swimming pool & sauna. There is also a restaurant and bar. We believe in using the best of local produce cooked and presented with flair and simplicity. We have an AA Rosette for fine food held for 10 years.
There is loads of perfect countryside for walking including Offa’s Dyke the ancient England/ Wales border fortification and now National Footpath, near to Powis Castle.
We offer a genuine warm welcome to all and we are located 25 minutes from Shrewsbury, as well as easy access from Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester.
