Reminded me of when we stayed in B&B's in Blackpool when I was a little girl. Don't know if my expections of 5* B&B's are too high as we would usually stay in a hotel and I didn't think there'd be any difference but there definately is. Read less

If you are looking for a comfortable, clean place to stay with friendly staff then I would recommend this B&B.
Dislikes:
If you are looking for 5* then don't stay here and our room didn't have a lake view as is suggested in the info on line

We are a guest house and as such our 5 Star guest rating reflects that. I agree with you that the industry rating system is confusing for guests but I have to work with it. The obvious indicator to this is that you would not get a 5 Star hotel for the prices that we charge!
You could have had a lake view room if you were prepared to pay the small supplement but you chose a standard double without a view. Thank you for staying.

We had made a last minute decision to visit the lake district on an overnight stay, so didn't know what to expect from the hotel or the location, we were both pleasantly surprised. The welcome was friendly and informative with use of another hotels facilities explained to us on arrival. Room was clean and tidy. Breakfast the following morning was excellent, with a large choice available. All I would say to watch out for is that the parking is quite tight. Read less

In and around Bowness there is an abundance of things to do. During the day you can visit the Beatrix Potter Exhibition and The Old laundry Theatre or why not go out on the lake itself on one of the various types of boats available for hire or go on a Windermere Lake Cruise. A short stroll from the guest house will take you to the many restaurants, shops and bars in the town.Being in the Lake District National Park there are many areas of outstanding natural beauty that can be explored on foot or via transport.
For the more adventurous the area is full of exciting opportunities. There are all kinds of water sports available on the lake including canoeing, Kayaking, skiing and sailing. Rock climbing, scrambling and caving can be arranged locally in groups or alone. The biking thrills are fairly unique with the off road trails providing extreme (and not so extreme) trails that take the breath way.
If you want to enjoy some of the mopre famous walks as seen on TV recently then why not sign up for some of the guided walks on offer throughout the area. No need to bring maps and compass; Let the experts lead you and allow you to experience the beauty and thrill of the mountains. All you need is a good pair of walking shoes or boots and a waterproof coat. (It has been known to rain here).
Where ever you choose to go there is not a more central base than Bowness on Windermere. We aim to make you feel welcome and relaxed throughout your stay and our attention to detail and friendly hospitality will make you want to return time and again in the future.
