"Worst Nights Sleep Ever!!"
We stayed in the Mary Anne Hepworth room, described as luxury and romantic!! It might have been if it wasn't for the extremely noisy upstairs drain that ran through boxed in pipes in the room. Every time the toilets were flushed upstairs it woke us up - approx 9 times during the night!!! We complained in the morning only to hear" Oh I haven't heard that before it's all been refurbished" What a load of rubbish!! The bed was tiny and the actual duvet was absolutely disgusting - probably 25yrs old! Read less

"Nice location - Poor Hotel"
The hotel is situated in a central location hence the downside is that there is no parking facility - you have to use a 'pay and display'.
Our room was situated on the third floor in the attic so you have to hump cases up a narrow staircase.
The ground floor is set up exclusively as a restaurant so if you are not eating you are not made to feel welcome.
There is no TV and the choice of DVDs is basic
The broadband in our room wold not work (too far from router). Read less
Likes:
Ideal handy location and the breakfast was good.
Dislikes:
The hotel is desperately in need of refurbishment.
The restaurant caters mainly for otside bookings so residents are not made to feel welcome if they are sat at a potentially booked table.

The White Horse and Griffin Hotel is situated in the heart of the beautiful seaside holiday town of Whitby, North Yorkshire. It boasts a AA 3 Star Rating. The hotel offers high quality luxury hotel accommodation in a 320 year old building.

Our hotel rooms, having been renovated over several years, still hold the charm and character of many centuries ago. All individually designed, the real flame fires are still surrounded by the original wood panelling.

The restaurant and bistro offer exceptional cuisine, all prepared using the freshest and finest local ingredients. Our speciality is based around the beautiful fresh seafood, brought into the town daily by the local fisherman, whilst offering a wide range of meat and vegetarian dishes.

Whitby is the home of Captain Cook and world-famous explorer William Scoresby. The hotel is only a few hundred yards from Whitby's famous Abbey and its 199 steps, only minutes away from 'Heartbeat Country' and several other national heritage sites. The town's skyline is dominated by the ruins of St. Hilda's Abbey, high on the East Cliff. Spreading below, a maze of alleyways and narrow streets run down to the busy quayside. With unique old world charm, for centuries Whitby has provided a safe haven for shipping and fishing fleets. It was once the main whaling port for the North of England. The small fishing town of Whitby is part of the Heritage Coast of North East England. The town has a thriving holiday resort trade, bolstered by the recent arrival of the replica of Captain Cook's ship "HM Bark Endeavour".

Due to Tv reception there is no TV reception in this location of Whitby.
