After taking the Windermere Ferry it's a short walk to Sawrey where Beatrix Potter's characters sprang to life, or Hill Top another of her homes. The fabulous Orrest Head & School Knott fells are within a 5 minute walk with views and walks that even the hiking noice can enjoy.

The bed and furniture were purchased 12 months ago from ikea, in victorian style, it is not old furniture - the ensuite is older but shower doors etc were replaced two years ago, flat screen TV's were put in last may so not even 12 months old, with DVD player and CD players in all rooms. We supply two bath towels & two hand towels & bath mat in every room, we would not expect anyone to use hand towels for a shower. Rooms are decorated in keeping with the victorian property & is as advertised.

Thank you for your feedback, the bed in the room you stayed in is a standard double bed, with a memory foam mattress which is very good quality and was only purchased last may, so I am sorry it did not meet your needs, we do have some rooms with kingsize beds, and if requested we will always try and accomodate requests subject to availabilty, the metal frame may be a bit creeky, and I will check this out, again thank you for your feedback.

Being only a minutes walk from the numerous shops, restaurants and pubs of Windermere, a mere 5 minute walk from the railway and coach station, and a pleasant 15/20 minute walk to beautiful Lake Windermere. We take pride in our warm, friendly atmosphere & home-cooked breakfasts, whether a Full English or Vegetarian breakfast or something from our lighter alternatives, our aim is to give our guests that 'home from home' feel, and provide an enjoyable holiday in Windermere. We are pleased to offer our guests staying two nights or more free use of the leisure facilities at Parklands Country Club, this includes swimming pool, sauna. Jacuzzi, steam room, Parklands also offer a beauty specialist who offers massage, waxing, tanning, manicure by appointment and payable locally.
All rooms are en-suite & feature flat screen satellite TV, DVD, CD player & complimentary use of CD & DVD library - Cambridge House has high a standard of rooms offering home from home comfort. We do not have a car park, there is ample immediate on road free/safe parking and a pay & display 2 minutes away that is free over night. Gay couples are welcome, we do not accept stag or hen parties, sorry no children under 8 years and no pets.
