Rather on the expensive side.

"Enjoyable stay but with disappointments"
We were surprised to find out upon checking in that the pool was not available for use at it was not heated. This was one of the main reasons for our stay and it was disappointing this was not communicated to us before our arrival or that a discount to our rate was not offered. We also found the room to be quite cold but this was quickly rectified by being provided with an electric heater. The hot water was lukewarm and never seemed to get properly hot for a bath or shower. Likes:
The staff were mostly friendly and very helpful and helped make what would have been a mediocre stay at best, an enjoyable one. The beauty therapist was excellent and her treatments - highly recommend
Dislikes:
General problems with heating (pool, hot water, cold rooms) and overpriced for what we received. I think it's unlikely we'll return as there are definitely better value hotels than this one.
Response from Combe House Hotel:
We were sorry to hear that this couple did not enjoy their stay - mainly as a result of the pool not being available.
This was due to the fact that we were preparing at the time for the poolhouse to be completely refurbished to house
a brand new Health and Beauty treatment centre which opens at Easter 2010. We appreciate the other comments
regards their room heating temp and hot water and have since rectified.

Combe House Hotel is an AA 3 star rated hotel located in Bridgwater, Somerset, located in a peaceful wooded valley in the heart of the Quantock Hills. The hotel has an excellent restaurant as well as lounge and bar areas for guests relaxation.

The 99 sq km Quantock Hills are England's first designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a landscape of contrasts, from the many sheltered wooded "combes" (valleys) with sparkling streams, such as the one in which our hotel is situated, to the open moorland on the hilltops. Roe and red deer, horses and sheep roam and graze freely, and a great many species of birds and butterflies thrive. The hills are a paradise for walkers and you do not have to go far for a sensational view. A five minute climb from the hotel's garden will reward you with a panorama taking in the surrounding hills, part of the Somerset levels and Bristol Channel with its landmark islands Steep and Flat Holm and the Welsh coast beyond.

Set in four acres of tranquil gardens, featuring a fine variety of shrubs, one of the largest monkey puzzle trees in the South West, an ancient yew, a young handkerchief tree and an organic kitchen garden. The hotel's heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, hard tennis court, croquet lawn and well stocked library provide plenty to do without leaving the grounds, but if you just want to relax, this is the perfect place, easily reached yet incredibly peaceful.
