The Cottage Bed and Breakfast is a family home in the village of Carrog, seven miles west of Llangollen in the heart of the beautiful Dee Valley. This former farmhouse, in parts over three hundred years old, is situated amidst beautiful scenery within walking distance of a steam railway station, a pub and the River Dee. We especially welcome Coeliacs, with a gluten free menu always available.

The garden was beautifully organised and kept, and I meant to ask about the HUGE tree which sheltered the geese and chickens, but forgot. The bedroom and en-suite bathroom were both very clean.
Dislikes:
The entrance and stairway were not terribly welcoming, with the strong smell of dog, although the bedroom was clear of it. The TV had an incessant and loud whine which made it almost unwatchable.

The Cottage is a family home welcoming guests to enjoy bed and breakfast in a lovely part of the world, seven miles west of Llangollen in the village of Carrog. With a choice of double or twin rooms, comfortable bedrooms with hospitality tray and luxurious toiletries, The Cottage is ideally situated to explore the area – by car, bike or foot.
Carrog boasts wonderful scenery, a steam railway station and a pub overlooking the river Dee. Walking, bird watching, outdoor activities, history, heritage, musical festivals, crafts - all make this the perfect place for a short break. Just over an hour from Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham and a perfect overnight stop en route to Holyhead for the ferry to Ireland.
The nearby town of Llangollen is famous for the International Musical Eisteddfod held every July, and this year the National Eisteddfod is being held in Wrexham - a twenty minute drive away. Snowdonia National Park is 20 miles west, and the Berwyn Mountains are a little known walkers paradise on our doorstep. Chester and the coasts are easily accessible for a day trip, with CADW and National Trust properties close by to explore.
We are happy to cater for special dietary needs, especially Coeliacs. Meals are freshly prepared using fruit and vegetables in season from the garden and quality produce sourced locally wherever possible. Packed lunches are available, we can provide self cook BBQ packs for use in the garden and evening meals can be pre-booked for our Coeliac guests. The local pub serves meals throughout the day and we can recommend restaurants in the area to suit all tastes and purses.
Environmental Statement
Wherever possible we source our food products from the local area, using products in season, and use fair trade tea and coffee. We re-cycle where we can, and ask guests to reduce unnecessary laundry though we are always happy to re-plenish dirty towels as needed.
