This was our second visit to Castleton house. There are many places of interest in the area within easy reach and this time we visited Shaftsbury, Wells and Salisbury. Another highlight of course in Stourhead just a couple of miles away! This time of the year (November)is not the best for weather, but with a delicious full English breakfast within one, the day took on a different feel! Thank you Gail for your excellent accomodation! We were a party comprising myself, my mother and my 4yr old daughter and were staying overnight having visited nearby Longleat. We chose Mere as our overnight stay location as we wanted to visit the firework festival that was on during the weekend we visited. Gail, the owner, also offered us use of a very large sitting room on the floor our bedroom was on, for the evening, although we found we had everything we needed in our room. Read less

The room itself was large & we used both the double bed & the sofabed, both comfy. The en-suite had a fantastic power shower. The road was quiet at night, & we all slept well. Great breakfast too!

Situated in the heart of Mere, which is nestled in the Wiltshire/Somerset borders and close to Dorset, Castleton House is a comfortable family home offering quality bed and breakfast accommodation with en-suite rooms. Twin, double and/or family rooms are available.
There is free parking available at our front door and off street parking can be arranged on request. Local pubs and restaurants are a short walk away. Our two guest bedrooms (both with en-suite) are situated on the first floor, as is our drawing room. Here guests are welcome to sink into the comfortable sofas and unwind after a long day.
Castleton House B&B is ideal location to explore the countryside of Wiltshire and Somerset their are plenty of places to visit. If you are planning a cycling or walking holiday in Wiltshire do come and stay in our quality B&B accommodation.
Gail is an experienced cook and gardener, the breakfasts here are particularly good and will set you up for the day ahead.
The dining room is elegant with a traditional feel, yet comfortable and spacious enough for you to be happy to spend time browsing over the paper. Fresh bread or muffins are baked each morning, the jams and marmalade are home made and when available the honey from Peter's bees is served.
Fruit is on the table every morning and whenever possible will be homegrown from the garden. All the eggs are sourced locally and from free range hens.
