Likes:
The welcome from Emma and Alistair, and the way they made every effort to make us feel at home. They also spent time speaking to us about the local area to ensure we made the best of our stay.
Dislikes:
We found it quite cold, particularly the breakfast room which didn't seem to have any heating. That said, I appreciate that it was the 1st open weekend in Feb & it's difficult to heat a large old house!

Alistair & Emma Mundell welcome you to Castle Hill Guest House, an imposing Victorian property situated in the picturesque village of Lynton. We have a combination of double, twin and family rooms. All rooms have en-suite facilities with Freesat television, tea and coffee making facilities, alarm clock/radio and hairdryers. Every room has a wonderful view of the Exmoor National Park. Our home offers a relaxed, informal base from which to explore the surrounding countryside.
Castle Hill is situated at the end of the High Street close to all the local amenities and attractions. Lynton is a quaint, unspoilt village with plenty of gift shops and tea-rooms, pubs, bistros and restaurants in the area to enjoy.
The old Victorian water-powered Cliff Railway is only a couple of minutes stroll away, which will take you down to Lynmouth where Exmoor meets the sea. Valley of Rocks is another spectacular place to visit situated two miles outside the village. It has fabulous views and lovely coastal walks, where you might bump into some wild goats or Exmoor ponies!.
Lynton is in an area of outstanding natural beauty which is a haven for birds and other wildlife. Birdwatchers will enjoy watching the Dippers and Wagtails in the River Lyn which runs through Lynmouth. Watersmeet is a beautiful hour long walk away from Lynmouth, where the National Trust has turned a Victorian fishing lodge into a fabulous tea-room. You can enjoy your tea watching the point where the Hoar Oak Water and the East Lyn River tumble together.
Castle Hill is situated just 50 metres from the South West Coastal Path. Walkers and cyclists are very welcome, and luggage transfers can be arranged. Families are very well catered for at Castle Hill. We have a Family Suite with interconnecting doors and two seperate bathrooms so that the whole family can enjoy this unique part of Devon!
