I initially fell for this place on the basis of the informative website and plethora of outstanding customer reviews. I was certainly not disappointed. Staying on a Thursday night in early February I was afraid the place might be rather empty, but its local reputation is plain to see from the fact that the car park was busy and virtually all dining tables occupied. And no wonder. It's a lovely country gastro-pub with bewilderingly good food, great draught beer, nice wine and friendly hosts. Read less

Warm welcome, very nice room, outstanding food, great beer, unpretentious. Excellent value for money. Do make sure you book your evening meal with your room.
Dislikes:
Only that I could not stay for longer and that being on business I wasn't able to share the enjoyment with my family.

The owner, Simon, and his staff were absolutely brilliant. We both felt like we were amongst close friends we were treated so well.
Dislikes:
Absolutely nothing. I would recommend the Bolingbroke to anyone. It was just perfect.

Very friendly landlord, looked like a very nice pub/restaurant when we arrived. Good breakfast, could have whatever we requested.
Dislikes:
We stayed on a Sunday night - beware there is no restaurant or bar facilities on Sunday nights.

Named after local noblemen, the Bolingbrokes, who for four generations reigned over North Wiltshire as Lord of the Manor from their nearby home of Lydiard House, the Bolingbroke was built in 1905 and has always been a public house.
Extended to include eight accommodation rooms, the pub was purchased by Arkell's Brewery in 2001 and has since been refurbished to an extremely high standard.
